How we decide eligibility in Urmston
UK licensing for both Mounjaro and Wegovy allows supply to adults aged 18 and over with a BMI of 30 or higher, or a BMI between 27 and 29.9 alongside at least one weight-related condition. Our pharmacist at Davyhulme Pharmacy will not supply a pen to anyone outside those bounds, anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding, anyone with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer, or anyone with a history of pancreatitis.
BMI is not a perfect measure — it does not account for muscle mass or body composition — but it is the criterion the medicines licence is written against, which is why we use it as the starting point.
