Role of the 0.5 mg dose
Second titration step. Semaglutide is now reaching levels where appetite suppression becomes noticeable, although the prescribed maintenance dose is higher still.
How long you stay on 0.5 mg
Four weeks. The dose schedule for Wegovy is set by the manufacturer and the pharmacist will follow it unless there is a reason to slow down.
What to expect
- Renewed nausea for the first two or three days after stepping up
- More obvious reduction in appetite
- Loss of roughly one pound a week becomes typical
- Some patients notice mild constipation here — extra water and fibre helps
Injection technique
Once a week, rotate sites. If you change injection day allow at least three full days between the old day and the new day.

Four-week pharmacist review covering weight, blood pressure, and tolerance to step up to 1 mg.
When to seek urgent advice
Tell the pharmacist about any new medicines, especially the contraceptive pill — semaglutide slows stomach emptying which can affect tablet absorption in the first weeks.
